The Web Poetry Corner - Pafu - May Day

May Day

by

Pafu

On this day in May
A man child was born
To a good family
In a good land.

And he grew to become
A man in his time
With his own thought
Own words and rhyme.

But a man is not just
What he proclaims
The space that he takes
Or what he has gained.

A half century passed
Till he stepped to the line
That divides everything
From what is called mine.

Now with eyes raised
Past passing clouds
Past pastel skies
To cold space beyond.

The venture is known
All's lost and gained
And the child of the man
Is all that remains.
