The Web Poetry Corner - Pafu - Just One
Just One
by
Pafu
Just one star was seen tonight
The one right overhead
Still its faint light seemed bright
Thru so much darkened cloud.
A road long and wearisome
Seemed it would never end
Rutted were the guts of it
A dusty thread of red.
Sometimes It disappeared in streams
Or tumbled down the slope
Does it end, or you pretend?
At times you did not know.
Its thousand pits and traps
Could not all be avoided
Even the best of pilots
Could not smooth it over.
Still we are safe at home
Sore but smiling still
Adventure has an easy slouch
When you've come thru it.
Once we were struggling
Riding on in numbness
Now midsummer evening
Comes back to soothe us.
If you like I'll tell more
Of the road we traveled
But you should close your eyes
Before it's time to wake up.
NEXT?
Why don't you look at
Love might find a way
