Y2k is blamed
For all the tension
In sunshine state
Voting machines failed
Results were unfair
Election turned to a rage
In sunshine state
The world's top news
Acquired from the South
Tallahassee became
Center of action soon
In sunshine state
Court gave the order
A decisive command
To recount by hand
Valued people's votes
In sunshine state
The hand recounting
Created wondering
Began and despaired
Lasted unfinished
In sunshine state
Gore gained by recount
Bush stayed behind
In sunshine state
Bush and his party
Declared victory
It was premature
Gore is now fighting
In sunshine state
Anxious many voters
Republicans and Democrats
In state of wonder
Wishing to find out
Who is a true winner?
In sunshine state
What Florida needs?
A new election
Some assurances
And honest machines
In sunshine state
