Precious Gifts

friends come to us
from everywhere
feelings are different
from each other

entering slowly
but, departing hasty
some arrive sooner
than we really know

they accrue nearby
to join our show
our lives resemble
targets for the show

we label ourselves
hosts of the show
our hearts recast
playgrounds for the show

some come full of joy
some pack with grieves
many empty hands
few convey precious gifts

many join then leave
some stay in touch
several take us to heaven
few blaze our souls

what they leave behind?
lots of memories
what our hearts conquer?
arrays of foot prints
