The Web Poetry Corner - Mitch Lathen - Some Day Very Soon

Some Day Very Soon

by

Mitch Lathen

On some day very soon, the world will change
If you walk through sky-less night you shall see
A life that you could never re-arrange

A dark figure in the shadows, so strange
His words echo what he thinks will soon be
On some day very soon the world will change

His words, hauntingly they come from the sage
So sad seems he, deluged by tragedy
A life that you could never re-arrange

"Do you understand?" he writes on the page
I ponder it. Can I really foresee?
On some day very soon, the world will change

"Live your life before you lose it to age."
Introspection leaves here a prophecy
A life that you could never re-arrange

Lesson learned, fruits of life came on in spades
I shall hold fast the wisdom gave to me
On some day very soon, the world will change
A life that you could never re-arrange
