The Web Poetry Corner - Misty Lanigan - Rush

Rush

by

Misty Lanigan

Teetering on the edge scared to death, but wanting the fall.
Fear, pride, experience hold you back to examine it all.
Letting go seems so easy and yet you still hold on.
Basic instinct is to fight it, try to be strong.
When does courage allow you to feel free enough to fly?
The moment can be so sudden you don't question why.
Tangled up in those emotions
and you allow your heart to lead.
Your mind becomes useless, second place in what you need.
Pain of losing the one you love
can keep your heart in check.
But never can you forget the freedom
or lose the hope of getting it back.
