The Web Poetry Corner - Misty Lanigan - Reality

Reality

by

Misty Lanigan

Regret is the torture of remembering,
thoughts of your touch and your kiss
Seeing you leaves me trembling,
sweet fantasies are pure bliss
Harsh realities awaken me with
the certainty of what is true
You are no longer mine
to hold, or run to
Sleepless nights, bad dreams
leave me longing for the old days
I'm missing your comfort in the night
and your compassionate ways
New love and moving on
is what you seem to have attained
No hope for us, and emptiness in my heart
for you is all I have gained
You shall always be important to me
no matter how long I live
The first true feelings of trust and caring
I was able to give
Please remember me as someone
who simply made a mistake
And when I see you now,
I may be able to mend my heartbreak
