How Can Anything Fulfill?
by
McKenna Byrne
How can anything fulfill us when we need;
When deep relentless requisites compound
And gnawing insufficiencies all feed
Upon our lives with surfeits never found?
How can anything fulfill us when we need;
When need grows roots so firm within our ground
They snag and snare, prohibiting our motion to proceed,
Tangling, so our feet go round and round?
How can anything fulfill us when we need;
With needs so vested that they cannot shift their ground
Too brimful of themselves to neither hear nor heed
The smallest satisfaction - if one could be found.
