The Web Poetry Corner - Mango Tree - The Red Blanket

The Red Blanket

by

Mango Tree

Cotton, partially synthetic
Medium weight
It lies upon my legs
It lies upon my trunk
Only partially protecting
Me from the cool air
Which seeps in from
The partially opened
Sliding door which separates
Me from the rain which
Separates itself from the clouds
Which once comforted the drops
And unleashed them outside
The door which is partially open
The red blanket gives me
Some comfort, not much
I sit up pushing the keys
Slightly in discomfort
Yearning a thicker blanket
A warmer room,
Yet realizing how much
That would affect this poem.
