The Web Poetry Corner - Mango Tree - Spring Planting in the Rain

Spring Planting in the Rain

by

Mango Tree

Sarah is out in the rain planting
lillipillies, a gardenia, mondo grass
they sink into the rich, red earth
tiny roots sink slowly at first
foliage surrounds the Queenslander
up on the ridge, above the valley below
She is wearing her dark blue raincoat
Since it’s raining today,
She couldn’t wait any longer to feel the earth
Push her fingers into the dirt, to break a shovel
She feels good when she’s restoring
The natural habitat, adding more beauty
to this world.
