The Web Poetry Corner - Mango Tree - Innocent Childhood

Innocent Childhood

by

Mango Tree

Childhood, wondrous years
carefree days when everything was why?
the moment was the focus
and the abuse that a child can receive
weaves into a trance until later years
a child loves fun and friends
they are more important than what occurs
at night behind closed doors by perpetrators
so the years pass, unhealthy relationships occur
and finally, one day, if one is fortunate, it rises
and spills itself all over the therapist's floor
finally, it's out, there's work to do now
it is worth the effort
