The Web Poetry Corner - Mango Tree - If Everybody is Nobody There
If Everybody is Nobody There
by
Mango Tree
If everybody is nobody there
then I must go
If everybody is nobody there
then I must go
For I know that when I arrive
there is much to discuss
to find out who’s really present
For if we don’t ask soon
it will just be another gathering
of faceless people,
superficial Sam will be there
glitzy Gloria will be strutting
humorous Henry, shallow Sue
these gross impersonators
are poor B actors that travel
through the haze of life blurring
never knowing who each truly is
it’s the fear of authenticity
it’s the fear of authenticity
it’s the fear of authenticity
that scares us.
