The Web Poetry Corner - Mango Tree - I WANT BURNING
I WANT BURNING
by
Mango Tree
This dust that carries me across the sky
takes me far from my origin
someday I will return
but, until that day,
I accept my place, here, on Earth
Yet, I realize that the world that I have been born into
also waits
This world has been waiting
It waits patiently to see what I will do before moving on
It waits for each of us to let go,
to finally let go of the burdens
that we gather as we feed upon the moments
that make up what we call a life
Patiently it waits
It waits for the unburdening
THIS WORLD WAITS, THIS WORLD WAITS,
FOR ME TO TAKE MY RIGHTFUL PLACE
FOR ME, TO TAKE MY RIGHTFUL PLACE
Today I wed my third wife
today, my life moves on with her beside me
we two dust particles join the journey
across the pathways of intimacy, of life
I accept my place in this world
I grasp, I trust, I burn
because I want burning, burning
