I Seize this Day

Mango Tree


Dapple, green leaves
hanging softly
it's winter in Byron
the sun is full on
the wind is strong
yet cool, accommodating
I sit quietly
knowing that only this day,
belongs to me
ONLY THIS DAY,
belongs to me
I seize it, consume it.
As a warrior with a sword
I slice away the moments
that make up this day
for that is the way
that I know I have
captured it.
