The Web Poetry Corner - Mango Tree - Fierce Thunderous Storm

Fierce Thunderous Storm

by

Mango Tree

The Poinciana Tree has had a growth burst
as have the other plants in the gardens
around the Queenslander on the ridge
the flowers are fully in bloom, it's summer
the plants that surround our house
separate us from the outside world visually
we live in harmony, the plants, the birds,
the opossum, the echidna, frogs
it is a natural life,
predators and prey act out their roles
which allow some to live longer
so many ecosystems going on
but, last night's thunder and lightning storm
and the pounding rain shook us all
it reminded us that there are powers
much fiercer and greater than any of us.
