The Web Poetry Corner - Mango Tree - Dark Dawn Dripping with Moist Dew

Dark Dawn Dripping with Moist Dew

by

Mango Tree

Dark dawn dripping with moist dew
a mist has crawled in along the river bank
the full moon glances down upon this valley
cows are mooing mournfully in a sort of muse
lamentations for the eventual day that a truck
appears before another dawn to cart the cow
to its demise in a slaughter house miles away
away from the mist, the moon, the valley
that now claims to be the home, its sanctuary
I look down from Myocum Ridge safe at the moment
restless because of yet another night without REM
I await the dawn to arrive, it gives me an hour or so
to finally rest, lie unexpectedly on the featherbed
no where to go, nothing mandatory to do
no obligations or deadlines or have tos, nothing
instead I sit here with the interferon and ribaviron
moving about my bloodstream hunting down the HCV
battle after battle goes on each day, some won, some lost
months pass by, the future looks hopeful, the war may end.
