The Web Poetry Corner - Mango Tree - Basho the Poet (1644-1694)

Basho the Poet (1644-1694)

by

Mango Tree

Basho wandered the countryside of Japan
searching for wildness, trees, flowers, streams
his haiku spread joy, sensitivity throughout Japan
his simple power, inner perspectives of life
influenced the compassionate side of humans
whereas, the power corrupt, war mongers,
freedom fighters, international protectors
fight for oil rights, mineral deposits, resources
Basho would find this extremely odd
this koan is mysterious,
everyone grows old and dies one day.
