A Small Boy Stood Patiently Waiting for Peace

by

Mango Tree

In the center of the field, on a clear blue sky day
stood a small boy, alone, looking up
waiting for the bomber to fly overhead
he waited patiently,
the sound of the engine could finally be heard
and as it flew directly over him the boy gasped
it was true what his leaders had said,
that the bombs had no particular name on them
and the split second before the first one hit,
he felt relieved, no more worrying, it was finally here
you see, the small boy grew weary from the threats,
the rheteric, the battering amongst leaders
and to finally die meant he would go in peace,
because that is what his leaders continually preached,
this is all for peace, this is all for peace.
