The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - When a sun; became suffused

When a sun; became suffused

by

M A Heathcote

The night in our hearts
Is a perennial a weed?
That strangles the light
With its tendril, might.

Its freezing touches.
Surrounds the soul,
Like a coat; surrounds
A black buttonhole!

Leaving, wild woodland flowers...
Wilted ashen bruised.
In halve moonlit hours...
When a sun; became suffused.

A white willow stood...
Like a gallows pole.
It swayed like a rod,
Steadied, rooted home!
