The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - Tears at a christening

Tears at a christening

by

M A Heathcote

On a day joy should be occasioned timeless.
Why do these afflictions of pain join us!

There are no table manners in tears?
They hold themselves back; only to attack.
Itís been this way for millennia of years:
The heart, mind is under constant ransack.

On a day joy should be occasioned joyous.
Why do these afflictions of pain join us!

Today there is going to be a christening
Today my niece! But last year your cousin
Scot died _without. Tears at a christening_
A happy heart: A memory deeply graven.
