The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - Light the candle at both ends

Light the candle at both ends

by

M A Heathcote

Light the candle at both ends
Letís pretend weíre just good friends
Let us roll like smoke across the floor
Feel those embers burn into flame
Back too that place in time with no name.

Vent no fury at the wall; just call?
You can be my friend forever more
You can be that signpost
That holds all manner of things in store
The key to the gate
And a whole lot more.

Oh light the candle at both ends
Let devilment be what itís meant to be?
Between you and me
Oh let not this candle burn down...
Without a bit of rolling on the ground

Oh let not this candle burn down
Without first rolling on the ground
Oh let us roll like smoke across the floor
Feel those embers burning into flame
Back too that place in time with no name for all time.
