The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - A loveless man

A loveless man

by

M A Heathcote

Brick me in a wall of fire
Because I havenít gottaí
Soul to save a saint
Dig me a trench and nail
Me down; bend that nail down.

Because I donít see
No holy, gate
Just an endless road of fate...

Bed me down drinking wine
With a woman who can only
Pretend to be kind
Bed me down drinking red wine
Because thatís how Iíd like
Too spend all my time.

Bed me down in the scripture
Of a ritual for all time
Bed me down in the vine
Of a womenís thigh
Bed me down with a serpent and staff
Because Iíll be here with you
Forever until the end of time
If you want me too

Brick me in a wall of fire
Because I havenít gottaí
Soul to save a saint
Dig me a trench and nail
Me down, bend that nail down
Because I donít see
No holy gate
Just an endless Harlot Road of fate
Till that sun doesnít rise up
From the ground
Till that sun takes me down
Until that fiery, ground.
