The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - The music from sweet cupids bow

The music from sweet cupids bow

by

M A Heathcote

Must I seek the morns mist?
In that valley of the melting snow
Too find an ancient spring
That does curdle to and throw
Like the music from sweet cupids bow
Like the music in my heart and soul.

Must I scale mountains of forbidden joy?
And still yet find those deeper sorrows
That from the winds greyer howls
Comes torn the hearts of tomorrow
Like the music from sweet cupids bow
Like the music in my heart and soul.

Must I drown in that watery mead?
Where a crocus moon does shine
In its waves of silvery dew lit dew.
That mourns forlorn under a gilder sun.
Like the music from sweet cupids bow
Like the music in my heart and soul.

Must I dream within a bluebells-hood?
Breathe within its musk’s of love
Too feel its leaf green serenity bud.
Her ancient passions lore!
Like the music from sweet cupids bow
Like the music in my heart and soul.

Must I crawl through the heather?
Through the cliffs and the crags
Like a haunted stalked deer.
Still enamoured by this world
Like the music from sweet cupids bow
Like the music in my heart and soul.

Must I swim through the oceans?
Like a migrating porpoise whale
With a song of ancient mariners
With a song of ancient tales
Like the music from sweet cupids bow
Like the music in your heart and soul.
