The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - Milkwort tureen
M A Heathcote
What scaffold or rusty apparatus!
Flower stem or fey, milkwort tureen
Will bent? This amber sap, amongst us
Powers this human, species; unseen.
What nature breathes in loving beauty?
Triumphant in bewilderments disdain
Will bent child of divinity of mystery?
Now, only you can reinstate or profane.
Oh, Sibyl were it prescribed "ordain"
Ah, in that Temporary, uncertainty!
What hopeless, darkness, could have lain?
In minds newborn to their Sovereignty.
In truth I have no faith no sermon
Salaam, salaam the deserts flamboyant
Flower in flame, jewel of ermine!
Salaam, salaam the hypnotic clairvoyant.
Oh, salaam, salaam the dunes chicane
Oh, salaam, salaam to the earth’s propane
Oh, salaam, salaam immodest man
Who in his wormwood less does tower
To beholden with the unseen power
Salaam, salaam the child yet not a man!
Salaam the slave whom yet remains a man.
Destiny maybe but only a grain of sand
But such is the world these atoms command.
