The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - Burning in the rain

Burning in the rain

by

M A Heathcote

Tempers are burning in the rain
Voices are calling out again
In pain
In pain

There’s only the silence of one who cries
There’s only the loneliness of long goodbyes
In the tears of his eyes
In the years he’d disguise

It’s only his heart ache braking
It’s only the next world staking
A claim to his heart
A claim to his soul

If only the hurt could
Be sent away
If only the life he lived
Could be lived again_.
Could be lived again_.

Then hope might fill an ocean
Love might even heal a rift
If a desert was all around him
If a Minion waves could lift

When impeding darkness follows
Might he slip into the shadows?
And when looking left remember
Wright is rightly right behind yeah_.
Then might he well discover
What’s been haunting—yeah?
Is a reflection of you yourself?
Is a reflection of you himself?
Is the reflection of no one else?
Just himself_
