The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - Between heaven and earth

Between heaven and earth

M A Heathcote

When I look into your eyes
So blue and clear
My love so sincere
I felt adamant
I wasnít the only defendant
Being judged between_

Heaven and earth, heaven and earth
Heaven and hell...

When I sit or listen!
Await the silences passing_
Within a momentís thought
Or at a momentís glance
I have to wonder why
These moments sometimes last
Not just a second but for an eternity
Between, you and me

Heaven and earth, heaven and earth
Heaven and hell...

So, you see Iím caught!
But not for the first time
Do, I want to be?
Set free_

Leave this communal dwelling_
Hope the ground
Beneath my feet isnít opening_
Like a marshland in swelling_
Hope a penance of love
Brings about an apology
So even if I am the guilty
I donít want to be set free
I only wish to spend
My eternity with thee!

Because you see
Iím caught, between
Heaven and earth, heaven and earth
Heaven and earth...
