Questions of adultery

by

M A Heathcote

Where can we break eggshells?
And meet as lovers.
Where can two lovers kiss, and tell?
Their hearts contents to one another.
What they’ve shared together
Under the covers!

If you cheat and I cheat
What of the hurt to others!
If we but hurl those empty lies
Like a cheap confetti
Upon our unsuspecting lovers!
Question; can we be chastely.
Or honest to one another!
