The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - Is where my shadows tender should take rest?

Is where my shadows tender should take rest?

by

M A Heathcote

In the inkwell pools of ancient shadows
Midnight poacher’s drunken-hunger creeps...
His flashing eye is seen like swallows
Dancing, flickering, crosswise, sheaves.
Where barn-owls no-longer hoot their cries
A slant pheasant clatters the fennel skies.

Here where silence ebbs cordially serene
Market forces grow eternally green!
Here where lies the quarter-ash purple-moon
Where a huntsman, swung aim hotly too soon.
Here where a fox-cub was ample guest!
Here where a blue-jay made her sacred nest.

Here where a skylark came too her nightly rest
Where an untried white-snow long-last-best...
Here where ancient silence ebbs serene!
Where these forces grow eternally green!
Here by the oak-wood I did loved the best
Is where my shadows tender should take rest?
