The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - For mouths of understanding

For mouths of understanding

M A Heathcote

These hands that helped turn time
Shall we not toast crystals of wine?
But be it earned before you taste
Else it is but just a souring waste
The benevolence of egoís malign.

Even if laboured sweet
Donít treat as thought its mead or meat
Even in these mouths of understanding
They still may not palate the mounting
Nor favour its fermented, sweat.
