The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - Time sifts through an hour glass

Time sifts through an hour glass

by

M A Heathcote

Time sifts through an hour glass
Her chains lock the heart; alas
Eternity, weeps in hope
All lovers tread the tightrope...
The cradle of that long, goodbye!
Each month one deader July
One less red promise rose
One less yield of windrows
All life sifts from shadow...
Baritone cries alto...
Such pain is the loverís death
Such the nonexistent breath;
In the hearts cruel echoesópast
Such an empty soulís bombast
To die devoid of the knowledge
Evergreen, soulís leafage
The largo-music of the harp,
The heavens--ever--heavenly!
