The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - The solace

The solace

M A Heathcote

Hear the thunder
Hear the rain
Run your fingers
Through my raven hair, again...
Sweet woman of ancient mysteries
Sweet woman of sweet dreams
If one man were able to weather
All your deep emotional, needs
All your volatile, extremes
If one man were able to weather
All those aching, histories
Sweet woman of myriad mysteries
Sweet woman of sweet dreams
Till; a midnight no-longer gleams
Would he then not drown?
In those watery blue grey depths
In the twinkling solace of your eyes
In the moon-white-lace of your foaming limbs
If one man were able to weather
Each and every tempest storm
Each clap of thunder
Each torrent of rain
Each river change of emotion
Each tear drop of pain
Wouldn’t you not be that raven?
Clandestine to carry off his heart again,
To wherever your sweet dreams
Weather-cock points in vain.
