The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - My lord: My honesty

My lord: My honesty

by

M A Heathcote

My lord: My honesty
Deliver me
Though Iím not blind
Deliver me
Show me a "sign"
I canít bleed, anymore
I canít still, wait "malign"
So put your
Arms around me
You canít ignore, me
Anymore!
"Then I can ignore" you;
My lord: My honesty.

Oh, just say
Youíll deliver me
Over every, waterfall
Bolder and obstacle:
Or I shall be
Forever rueful
Each and every night:
Because I canít outfight
Thee, anymore
"Then you can" me.
My lord: My honesty.

Like a purple flower
That no-longer has a life!
But in death
Itís a seed of birth!
A resurrection,
A renewal, unending...
Only just beginning...
Still ghostly, white
Unfeeling_
"Then deliver me" like this seed:
The same way, tonight!
My lord: My honesty.

Deliver me
Though Iím not blind
Deliver me
Show me a "sign"
Because I canít bleed, anymore
I canít still, wait "malign"
For you!
So put your
Arms around me
You canít ignore, me
Anymore!
"Then I can ignore" you;
My lord: My honesty.
Tonight! Tonight! Tonight!
