The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - If I were a Tree

If I were a Tree

M A Heathcote

If I were a Tree
A rowan would I be,
Sitting unaided on ancient-wall,
Looking-both-wise; which-way, not to fall!

Yes; here would I perch... between the two..?

Too feel my real clay roots in you;
Those signal red-leafs a stars-light shone through...
A pagan people in whose love the woodworm grew!
In circles flame; unending, around me and you!
