The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - Diana

Diana

by

M A Heathcote

Diana, I was..? Touched
By the heaven in your heart
Touched by that hand
That was a flower
Growing in our nations tears
Like a star of eternal joy.

Your compassion was
An anthem of love
Your frailty was
A sceptre of life
Princess of a landmine,
Foreign, world..?

A queen of humanity...
A queen in our hearts...
A child of haunting, humility...
A sister to nurse our souls:

Lost in the darkness...
Beneath a clarion of flashing-wings!
Now rising like an angel,
Earth mother of all...
Simple, humble, caring, human beings!
