The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - What needs must

What needs must

M A Heathcote

Maidens of a quiet mournful repose
Was in not at beauties gentle doze?
That your sweet dark eyes spoke
Of an emanate bright dewed rose

Or was it a boy in manlier clothes
He that with arms of iron cleaves
Glowering into your milk white skin
For loves unwilling touch, willing sin

Or were you coiling a serpentís heart
A restless passion born of a foreign art
Were you then yearning a newer space
To gleam the stars from anotherís face

A face where darkness shines surreal
Where maidens spool on a devils reel
Could it then be a childhoods dream?
A Vagabonds thoughts a saints theme!

Maidens of a quiet mournful repose
If it wasnít at beauties gentle doze?
Then leave my bones jacket of dust
To mingle with the ancient pharaohs
Who knew no end to lust...?
And what needs must.
