The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - The dangle headed mother

The dangle headed mother

M A Heathcote

You in your ways and me in mine
You the scabbard star; I the skull-knife
The dust blade carpenter of life
The set upon wheel spoke of cranked-up time.

You the sun -ghost, sideways crab
I the keep-net of jellied eels
You the kerf forest of root-worn legs
I a blue skiff, torn, through the reeds
Of that maple syrup, bank...

You in your ways and me in mine
You the bottleneck Mountains green
I the tide mark waters seam
You the scabbard star, I the skull-knife
You the hard done by, hard luck wife
I the viscous harbinger of life;

You the river-fly with dew locked veins
Dangle headed mother of the rains.
You the scallion rainbow, dredge of oily sea
You the weathercocks chaff of seed
For you the stars are baulked and made
For you the creature world is bade!
