The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - Phoenix like an evergreen thorn

Phoenix like an evergreen thorn

by

M A Heathcote

In a country native to her thighs
An eastern promise no doubt defies
The building of straw weeping eyes
The cradling of ageless goodbyes

In their citadels of golden flower
Infants marshal from their bower
Tormentors they still not yet born
Phoenix like an evergreen thorn!
