The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - Lions lie down like corndogs

Lions lie down like corndogs

M A Heathcote

Lions lie down like corndogs eaten by the dark
As cities cats and mongrels howl in the park
A radio hums like a distant hymn for freedom
To begin its soul searching beginning s in Edam

Under an emancipated Gray starlit day
We all walk the gray pavements like prey
Like corndogs we all go the same way...
Home, anyway...

With all your visions, divine, divisions
Shotgun weddings, recoiled,
Heartbroken, revisions, unspoiled,
This defines me!
With you!
Corndogs are we too side by side
In this bed in our own landside
With the lions in the pride
