The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - As a child bade by laws

As a child bade by laws

by

M A Heathcote

As a child bade by laws
Not to walk on all-fours
Not to pull down a pretty girls draws
Not to kick footballs along corridors
Not to climb on garden walls
Not to talk to strangers in church halls
Not to swear or cause furores
Not to think or even give pause
Why, misery is part of the course.
