To know the silence in a flower
by
M A Heathcote
To know the silence in a flower
Uncurling in a moonless hour
To know the kingdom of the briar
Hear subject petals all afire
To know the snail on his ancient trail
Rounding the buttercups golden grail
To know the hawthorns maiden bloom
Before the autumns non-pining gloom
To know all this and so much more
Is heaven to the hearts bleak core?
A core where threads are woven-tight
And darkness is availed by light!
