Rounded in the ways of life

M A Heathcote
Cowslips grow along a woodland stream
In an amphitheater they are all there is in the arc
To show me it is spring,
To show me there is light in my heart.
They there the stars I see, were once apart of me
Like smooth soft stones picked from the earth
Rounded in the ways of life.
They became apart of me,
There feet in crystals of ice flowing dream,
Dreams that if I Could - I would dream again.
Where they went I never followed,
They slipped beneath the ground and were swallowed.
I walked in search past a woodland pool
Who’s prismatic mirror was more in tuned.
Its purple depths were only shallow
But its reach was to my soul a shadow
And cold as it seems - I felt at home
Looking down into it's watery loam
I wished to see it’s waters move from its stillest thought!
I gazed for fish and there was naught!
No echo of life discerned in its face
Would speak with me, but it’s presence
Was a lore that I followed,
When I left this place...
