M A Heathcote

Old fat parish cat
Wears a spire for a hat
Wears a white collar
Around his velvet black nap
Now what do of that?

The mice he guides
Them to their pews
And in their piety
They all looked bemused
As he read out loud to them
The lords sweet muse_
