The Web Poetry Corner - M A Heathcote - Lay still my beating heart
Lay still my beating heart
by
M A Heathcote
Beneath the white-wet, dew-lit foxgloves,
The lichens and apricot boughs
Beneath the dusky grey church-cock tower
And the ambient, wet, westward, clouds,
Lay still my beating heart!
As silence wrestles with silence, taut
As topaz ladybird march unduly
Through myriad ichors of lustrous web
Through a needle of time, unfounded
Lay still my beating heart!
