The Princess and The Fairy
by
Luigi Lalumia
One morning the Tooth Fairy was in jeopardy of being dismissed
Her crown and wings: The subject of retirement
As decreed by my Little Princess
The Tooth Fairies services were no longer a requirement
"Are you sure you know who she is?" I inquired
For there is still treasure to be had
I added " It isn't nice to make a good fairy mad, she may never come back."
With a semi-toothless grin
It was understood what I had said
At that the goods on the bed were taken
My child's childhood is leaving
And I cannot stop the years as they pass
So I must defend a fairy -
To slow the futures turn to past
Soon behind innocent eyes
Underneath the cutest nose
Will spread
The " I know something you know" smile
Until then - at least for a while
