The Web Poetry Corner - Luigi Lalumia - Taos

Taos

by

Luigi Lalumia

Atop a snowy mountain peak
Stood two turtle dove

A harmless trick he’d planned all week
To demonstrate affection for his beloved

To the ground he fell lifeless and meek
Down the hill she sped from above

Her first reaction was to shriek
For it was hidden in his glove

A tear rolled down her cheek
As he slipped the ring onto her finger
And promised everlasting love

Cold lips pressed onto each
Warming their hearts beyond the undreamed of

A glorious start of two new lives
As Husband and As Wife
