Lost and Found

My bottom lip quivers as my chin struggles to support
the weight of my emotional tug-of-war. A
losing battle with pain and joy is being fought behind these eyes. Both
sides release - the aftermath is a salty stream filled with the blood and bones of my last wasted day flowing down this contorted face. The
strain of my fingernails digging into the steering wheel confirm what I feel is real. My teeth are grinding so hard that the pressure causes a ringing in my head. My
ears hear an old voice whispering to my heart. "My promise is the key to unlock all that is good inside of you." I am being spoken to by the one that is holier than thou. I
am no longer looking up through a black cloud of sin and sadness. Now I see the separation, the cloud blown away by a heavenly wind. I
am soaring like a beautiful bird. I carry all my hopes and dreams over a land of milk and honey. I am making my way to a home I've considered forgotten. Alas
He hasn't let me forget that there is a place to be -
a reason to be happy to be the dude that I am.
