The sunsets in Texas
Seem everlasting
There is nothing to interrupt the shadows it's casting
The slow sinking decent burns into the West
Just for a moment it rests on the fence
Horses, cows, oaks
and me
Bask in sun soaked splendor
Until layers of pink and purple twilight
Give way to the stars hung by the millions
It's so beautiful in LaGrange
The gates open
Even the cows won't runaway
Content with munching on sweet green clover
Until the Sun is done
Before I tip the last of my Shiner Bock
A toast
To the last of the light
To the beautiful land
To the folks in the band
