DINNER

As I stand outside myself
I am looking at us at the dinner table

Clockwise

The table is round, plates round, cups round, serving dishes - round
we're all joined together around this roundness

One starts the prayer
the other chimes in
then finishes the end
with "Amen" we begin

"How was your day?" is exchanged
"This is good mama."
now everything is rearranged

When we meet at our eating
it makes times flight -
not so fleeting

Laughing about our life
serious talk -
lessons to learn
"Please pass the knife."

This is wonderful
all of us here

Not many things are as clear
