The Web Poetry Corner - Luigi Lalumia - Bottle

Bottle

by

Luigi Lalumia

Of happier times I reflect
Remembering how sweet the fruit
of your love tasted
Tasted-
To a tongue ignorant that such a succulent splendor
could coat my mouth, my body, my entire day
after day

Stranded on your heart
I climb to the top
And realize the chill is to the bone
Dark and deep are the surrounding seas

Eating stones of hate
Drinking boiling lava
I vomit enough to build walls all over our world
Ov'r and through love gardens

I've one last bottle
Slowly I sip whats left inside
me and you
Wetting my lips with fluid memories
of you
I blow across the top to create the pitch

It is there
In the tone
I see you
And I
Happy again.
