Terra Australis
by
Lee Emmett
Leave now the lyrebirds in the mists singing
Set out in silence, south first, to Gippsland
Great granite boulders, Sealers Cove, Oberon,
Magnificent sentinels standing in Tasman.
Guided by the Southern Cross head north to desert lands
Follow the rhythmic drone of didgeridoos
And with each footstep the sharpening of senses
Drink and breathe deeply as wisdom unfolds
Now it is your turn to wander, a nomad,
Discovering our sacred earth, singing her songs,
Uluru's calling, red rock, our centre,
Heart of Australia, drawing us home.
